Choosing a Kitchen Sink Part 2

Once you decide on the type of sink. The next decision is the number of bowls and their sizes. Things to consider are how much you cook , do you like to wash dishes while prepping, do you wash larger items.

A single basin sink has a large open area so they are great for pots and pans. Typically they are also deeper. The drain placement can vary in these sinks. In some styles the drain can be off to one side and the sink is sloped.

If you decide to do a double basin you will need to determine your basin split. Basin split is the percentage of space each basin takes up in a double basin sink. The most popular options are 50/50 and 60/40. This allows one side to be slightly bigger for pots and pans.

Double basin sinks are great for multi tasking. You can be prepping food while staying ahead of the cleaning up by washing as you go. Below are a couple of different styles of double basin sinks.

Triple basin sinks give you many options as far as basin size. You can choose between two larger basins with a small one in the middle, three equal sized basins, or all different sizes. These tend to be wider than standard size sinks, so you will need to plan ahead if this something you would like.

Next week we will feature the Galley Workstations and Karan’s sinks.
