The kids are back in school and fall is just around the corner. It is a great time to clear out some closet clutter and get organized. Clean organized closets actually make it easier and faster put everything away..
The first step is to de clutter your closet, clean out any clothes that no longer fit, are worn, or out of style. This will leave you with a closet full of items that fit perfectly.
Next, you will want to create an organization system for your clothes and accessories. Do you need to hang some hooks on the wall for belts and necklaces? Maybe some baskets could help you keep your scarves, hats, and bags organized. You might also consider grouping your clothes together by type or color. This will help you find a certain sweater or blouse faster than having to go through all your clothes.
Don’t forget to clean out your drawers as well. Refolding your shirts to maximize space is another great trick. We have included one of favorite ways to fold shirts below. This fold makes it super easy to find that favorite T-shirt without digging through the entire drawer; which helps drawers stay organized.
Next, look at your shoes. Get rid of any that are worn out or no longer fit. Then develop a system organize them whether it is a shoe shelf, shoe pockets, or shelves. This will help reduce shoes being thrown all around the closet.
Depending on the size of your closet you might consider adding a mirror, chair, or lighting. A mirror can help visually enlarge a room while lighting can help brighten up a dark closet.
While this article is geared towards your bedroom closets, don’t stop there. Also be sure to clean out and organize your linen closet, pantry and other storage areas around your house.
